Perspective’s Gravity

Contemporary circus, aerial acrobatics, street performance

About

Perspective’s Gravity is the second part of the author's second trilogy. It deals with interconnectedness, intertwinement and interplay of the environment with the specimens of the homo sapiens species and the impact that our own thoughts have on ourselves. After the first part, entitled Etude for prepared piano and rope, in which the artist was creating music on a prepared piano through aerial acrobatics and manipulation of an aerial rope, in the second part of the trilogy, she presents herself with the work entitled Perspective’s Gravity. The manipulation and thus the (co)influence here shifts to the artist’s body, which, through aerial movement and voice, directly influences her environment (music, light,...).

Individual experience, decisions and perception of the world depend on the individual's gaze. We are nurtured into a certain perspective, which crystallizes, directs and oppresses us. It makes us ideal consumers.  Is it possible to radically change this perspective, and how? How much influence do we have as individuals, how much influence does society have, and how much influence do genetics have in changing perspective? Can we link perspective to the insights of modern science on the nature of the universe and gravity? According to quantum mechanics, reality is not objective and independent of us. The subjective observer rather influences the results of experiments. The entanglement, interconnectedness and co-influence go right down to the very strings from which the web of the cosmos is woven.

Technical rider

The street performance Perspective’s Gravity includes aerial acrobatics and features a freestanding pyramid-shaped aerial acrobatics structure.
It takes approx. 2,5h to set up the structure, lights and the stage, and 1h to prepare the performer before the performance. Ideally we start setting up 4h before the show, but the minimum is 2h. We arrive at the venue with our own transport and ask for car access to the venue to unload props or help with transportation of equipment from van/car to the venue. If there will be no technician who is familiar with the requested equipment provided by the venue/organizers please inform us of this at least a week before the date of the show.

Space:
- For the performance we need a flat floor area in the shape of a triangle 6 m on each side. Best floor material is pavement, asphalt, concrete.. If the ground is not in the list above please confer with us and send us the photo of the venue and the ground.
- Free space in height 6.3m.
- Ideal conditions are a more intimate public space
- table 1x2m or similar dimension and 2 chairs. Dimensions depend on the dimensions of the light mixer, but the table should be able to host both sound technician as well as light technician. (can be two separate tables as well).
- the performance is more suitable for night performances
- electrical power supply (for the sound system and, in the case of evening performances, light equipment)

Sound system:
- 2 active loudspeakers on stands with a frequency range (20hz or 30hz to 20 khz). Suitable for reproducing frequencies even below 100hz.
-stands for speakers or any other way to elevate the speakers from the ground. (not for the subwoofer).
- speaker for monitoring (can be less demanding than the PA speakers)
- mixing console (mixer) We will connect just two line signals (L/R) from our equipment to the mixing table. And we prefer that connection of the mixer to the PA system and monitor is done by the technicians provided by the venue.
- 4 xlr/xlr cables. 2 xlr to connect the mixing console and speakers. 2 to connect microphones to the mixing console. Length depends on the distance of the mixing desk from the venue. At least 10m.
- Possibility to power a computer - electrical distributor at the mixing desk.
- incase of sett up during sun exposure, we kindly ask to provide shade for computer and sound equipment on the table.
-stage tape

Light (in case there is possibility to perform in night time):
- led lights – possibitlity to change colours on lights
- a general light to illuminate the entire floor and air area of the venue (circle approx. 6-7m in diameter, 6m high).
- a focal light to illuminate the centre at 6,3m
- 3 lights to illuminate all 3 legs of the structure (6m in height)
- light mixing table
- light tehnition to programe the lights
- we bing our own light tehnitian to lead lights during the show.

If there is some tehnicals you can not provide, please let us know and we can provide it.
